Its headquarters is in Thika, Kenya, and has expanded its presence to multiple African countries. This brand has gained recognition for its commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability in its product offerings and has a strong focus on manufacturing and marketing consumer-friendly and affordable products for consumers across the region. The brand just hit an impressive USD 847 million ARR with an agile team and wishes to expand marketing team.

Brief of the role :

As a Brand Identity and Packaging Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual representation of our brand and products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to the success of our products in the market. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain a consistent and compelling brand identity that aligns with our company values, target audience, and market positioning. Develop creative briefs based on ideas established in brainstorming sessions with direction, schedules, and expected deliverables for the creative team.

• Create innovative and visually appealing packaging designs for our [FMCG/Product Type] products, considering both aesthetic appeal and functional aspects.

• Conduct secondary research to understand target consumers, market trends, and competitors to inform your design decisions.

• Possess a strong technical understanding of packaging design, including materials, printing techniques, and production processes.

• Work with the internal and external creative team to establish a unified brand understanding and voice for the company.

• Conceptualize campaign vision, harnessing original graphics, copy, content websites, social media, product packaging and other marketing materials in collaboration with internal team & external agency.

• Delegate projects to in-house designers and oversee.

• Obtain team approval by presenting final layouts, storyboards, and illustrations, encouraging members to provide feedback, and responding to internal commentary and requests.

• Present or oversee presentation of final concepts and coordinate production and dissemination for cross-organizational use

• Actively seek feedback from stakeholders and incorporate it into design iterations to achieve the desired outcomes.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of proven experience in Brand Identity and Packaging Design, ideally within the FMCG industry.
• Strong portfolio showcasing your creative skills and understanding of packaging design.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
• Ability to translate consumer insights into visually appealing and effective design solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate design concepts and collaborate effectively.
• Technical knowledge of packaging materials and production processes.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications (but not necessary):

• Experience with startups or FMCG companies like Fast&Up, Soulfull, Blackwater.
• Familiarity with sustainable packaging practices.
• Knowledge of 3D rendering software for mock-up creation.
